Do You Twitter?

I just had an interesting conversation with three of my co-workers about Twitter.  None of the three do it, nor do they understand it.  I told them I would post a funny YouTube video about tweeting, but that video has been loaded up with advertising, so instead I'm embedding a more informational video.  Take a look ... and tell me what you think.  Do you Twitter?  Why or why not?  Is it a great idea, or is it pointless?  How can Twitter be used for good?

After watching the twitter tutorial video on your blog, it was clear that Carla has a problem and perhaps an intervention is necessary. In the video it says that Carla is addicted to her mobile device and reading her friends blogs. Now, because of the peer pressure from her friends, she’s hooked on following people via twitter. Does Carla have a job? It seems like the constant interruptions of many people constantly tweeting important things like “I’m mowing the lawn” or “I’m drinking a latte” may impede her ability to concentrate on the task at hand.

All kidding aside, I suppose if I’m going to “follow” anyone, it’s going to be Jesus.

The words of Jesus, "Follow Me", have taken on new significance in the Twitter generation.

Just checking Facebook makes me feel as though I am spending too much idle time seeing if anyone has anything interesting to say. It CAN be addicting!!
Though I have a Twitter account, I must confess I've only been on it I think maybe twice.
As hard as it is to believe because of the type of person I am, I would rather be personally involved in a life. The computer makes things so....oh I don't know. You fill in the blank.
I recently found a high school friend on Facebook. She said some really nice stuff to me about our family growing up. So in response I said her words were an encouragement because my prayer in life is to make a difference in someone's life and I don't feel I do that very well. I told her that my family owes everything we have to Jesus and what he's done for us. I was very brief and I don't think it sounded preachy...
Well...she's yet to respond. I even think she wiped my comments off her facebook. Very strange.
So back to Twitter: It would be very easy for someone like me to live on the computer with this kind of stuff available. But I think it is healthier for me to step out of my comfort zone into the real world. I'm afraid to Twitter. My passion is all about Jesus and I realize the world really could care less. The only way I know how to make a difference...is to be an example (and even that is is a challenge).

I mostly twitter tech updates and links to audio industry news and events. For me and the other tech geeks who follow me and whom I follow it's a way of finding news that never makes "the news."
